Telling the Story of Abraham

It is said in Galatians 3:29 that if we are in Christ, then we are seeds of Abraham and can be heirs of the promise that God had long proclaimed for Abraham and his descendants. This is a claim that every Christian believer grasp from the time it was written in the Bible until now. But who really is Abraham? And for what reason did God created such an amazing promise for him. In this piece, I am going to go over the time of Abraham and God’s brilliant work in his existence – living, family, and journey.

Who is Abraham?

Abraham is a vagrant from the town of Haran. God commanded him to leave his father’s kin and the land of Haran. He obeyed with no hesitation and followed what God has commanded him. He left all the things that belong to him in the land of his father just to obey the request of God. He wedded Sarah (Hebrew princess) but for years they have no brood. They have made futile and bad decisions in their life just to have their own child. Abraham bedded with Hagar, Sarah’s housemaid and a child Ishmael was born. Sarah hated the child so much becauseshe wanted a child of her own to inherit everything that Abraham owns and not a child from another woman.

At a very old age, God assured them that before long, they will bear their own baby. They both express amusement at it taking into account their age. But later on, it has been proven; there is nothing impossible – nothing too hard for the Lord to fulfill.

A dazzling baby boy was born – Isaac. He fulfilled the bliss that Abraham has. He completed the divination that God has placed – that Abraham will be the father of every land. Indeed, it will happen through Isaac but one day, God commanded Abraham to go to Mount Moriah and sacrifice his only begotten child – Isaac. The son that he and Sarah anticipated for so long will be murdered on the sacrifice table.

As a parent, would you sacrifice your only joy – your only son and obey what god has been asking from you? The majority might reply no but Abraham unexpectedly set up for his voyage to mount Moriah accompanied by his precious son, Isaac. On their way, Isaac was worried because they have no offering for God. Little did he know that he is the gift that will be given to God. On top of the mountain, Abraham was ready to slay his own son when an Angel appeared and stopped him. The sacrifice was just a test and Abraham passed it! He can give up his only son for God. Reading and

knowing this story, no one should wonder why God loves him so much.
